My three year old cat had an autoimmune disorder that caused painful inflammation in his mouth teeth gums…having had cats for decades I had never seen this before.
He had to have every single tooth removed 14 days ago. Yikes!
Dr Carter is an absolute pro, with a very caring staff. I knew he was in great hands.
His recovery is going very well at two weeks though there is still a ways to go. That said, he’s eating his ‘mousse’, has begun to play (with footie toys only) and every day he’s getting better. Yes it’s expensive. The alternative to spending money is even worse for the cat. I’m his momma and it’s my responsibility to provide the care he deserves.

Pet parent review on behalf of a 4 lbs Yorkie’s first experience with board certified dentist.  Primary Veterinarian
referred us to Whiskers animal dentistry and, after a highly successful surgery, I 5 star highly recommend Dr. Carter and his team.They had appointments available for every step of treatment. I didn’t experience far appointments availability. During Suzie’s  yorkie’s routine dental cleaning, her vet found that an infection had resulted in bone-loss in her jaw, so there was a high chance of jaw fracture with any treatment. I contacted whiskers about the referral and they responded the next business day to set up a consult about treatment. Dr Carter’s practice offers many channels of communication that I found helpful;  website,email and by phone and my text. Dr. Carter was very thorough in his examination and explanation of her condition and treatment plan. I walked out of the consultation with some new knowledge about micro dog dental anatomy. I was a nervous wreck being that this would be her second month under anesthesia, so it was comforting to learn Dr. Carter’s team includes a treating anesthesiologist. At every visit, I noticed many of the dogs in the waiting room attended at ease and playfully walked in and out of  the office. I believe the lack of fear that these dogs demonstrated at Whiskers was key and set the tone for my pup. She also seemed at ease at all appointments. She also willingly walked into the office at her Post Op check up.
Before her surgery, Suzie was restless, withdrawn with other dogs, had trouble sleeping, was especially restless and trembling, after eating, and lost interest in longer walks, and now she allows her neighbor pups to approach her in reciprocate sniffs,  allows face pets and snuggles in her own bed after eating. I found Whiskers as a recommendation from my primary vet, and although I drove all the way from San Francisco, it was so worth it for the level of care. Whisker’s Animal Dentistry went above and beyond for my 14-year-old dog. I was understandably nervous about having my senior dog undergo multiple extensive dental procedures, but the entire team made me feel so reassured and cared for throughout the process.

They were incredibly thorough, compassionate, and communicative. I appreciated that they go through all of the photos with you so you can have a better understanding of what needs to get done and the severity level. They were also very flexible as far as helping me understand my options, and providing thoughtful advice. Leading up to it, they were very flexible with scheduling, and even went out of their way to communicate with me and my primary vet about some last minute medication needs to ensure I could get the prescriptions over a holiday weekend. During the procedures, I received so many updates along the way, which meant so much to me and made it much easier to know that my dog was in good hands. Both Dr. Carter and the vet techs also checked in with me for the days after to make sure my dog was recovering properly and to see how he was feeling. I also appreciated that they gave me a very thorough recovery plan, including some baby food to help deliver the post-op medications. After the procedure, I was heading out of town, which made scheduling a post-op follow-up appointment difficult, and they were adamant about making themselves available and flexible within my schedule.

I’m so grateful to the entire team at Whisker’s for their expertise and high level of professionalism. They took the time to explain everything, answered all of my questions, and genuinely gave us so much care and attention and treated him as if he was their own pet. Our overall experience with Whiskers was the best possible! The staff were all so caring and professional and provided an atmosphere that made you know you were working with an experienced and professional team. Dr. Hannahbess was absolutely amazing and I would refer her to anyone. Our poor kitty had to have a full mouth extraction which is so frightening for a pet owner. Dr. Carter is incredibly knowledgeable and explained every detail of our cat's dental surgery with kindness and patience, open to every question and concern we had. He also followed up in the days after the surgery to check in on our cat and help us with his post-surgery progress and care. Everyone at Whiskers - from the office staff to the vet techs - is kind, caring, and very thorough. They even made a custom bag with a hand-drawn picture of our cat for his go-home meds and needs.
